The Club Management Association of Southern Africa (CMASA) has appointed Africa's leading hotel school, International Hotel School (IHS) as their official provider of hospitality education, training and certification.

"CMASA is extremely excited about the new partnership agreement they have entered into with International Hotel School, as this meets our objectives in terms of delivery of the highest standards in education and training to the club industry" explained Janyne Marais, General Manager of the Club Management Association.

"This partnership will have a direct impact on the sustainability of our clubs, and we are focused on raising the employment opportunities to many new recruits and to elevating the staff currently employed in the club industry - offering training for all levels from junior to senior management", added Janyne.

CMASA'S delivery of Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) globally recognised club management courses, Business Management Institute (BMI) programs, and all other hospitality and local business training courses will be done through International Hotel School. The significance of this partnership is that there will be tailor-made courses available to CMASA's members covering Club Management, Hospitality Management, Food and Beverage Management, Culinary Arts and more.

International Hotel School is internationally recognized, as well as accredited by the Culture, Arts, Tourism, Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATTHSETA), and offer a range of hospitality related skills training and learnerships. What's more, direct industry input goes into the development of every one of the products, ensuring that the knowledge shared is up-to-date, practical, and accurate.

WIL through Hotel School

I H S have a group of Hospitality Management (HM) students who need to complete their 10-weeks of WIL from the 21st of February 2016. Sign up now to participate, details below.

The International Hotel School offers a variety of courses including, but not limited to the following:

Full time (unpaid):
Diploma in Hospitality Management (3years) = HM
Diploma in Professional Cookery & Kitchen Management (3 years) = PCKM
Diploma in Culinary Arts (1 year) = CA
Advanced Diploma in Culinary Arts (6 months specialist course) = Pastry
Diploma in Patisserie (6 months specialist course) = Advanced

Students enrolled for the full time courses spend 50% of their course on campus (lectures, exams etc.) and 50% of their time in industry (hotels, lodges, restaurants) completing Work Integrated Learning (also known as WIL).

WIL duration:
HM & PCKM: Every 10 weeks students rotate. The group of students are divided into two groups and whilst the one group is out on WIL, the other group is based at Campus covering the theoretical component of the course.
CA: Based at Campus for the first 16 weeks, then go out to industry for 16 weeks of WIL.
Pastry: Based at Campus for the first 8 weeks, then placed in industry for 8 weeks of WIL.
Advanced: Based at Campus for the first 8 weeks, then placed in industry for 8 weeks of WIL.

Students enrolled for the traineeship programmes secure employment with a property for the duration of their 2-year programme whilst studying via our online platform (distance learning). Properties are invited to attend panel interviews at International Hotel School whereby they can interview potential candidates and select the best candidates for their properties.
