REPORT ON GEO AND REVENUE WORKSHOPS

The first of the GEO workshops on sustainability kicked off at Bellville GC, in Cape Town and it was a pleasure having Steve Isaacs from the R&A on hand to present to the group of 60 delegates.

The workshop then moved to Gauteng and once again we had fabulous attendance with over 112 delegates in the room. Natal and the Southern Cape workshops were also well supported with 55 delegates in attendance at Durban CC and 26 at Pezula, which is a good turnout for this region.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

SUSTAINABILITY affects us all and is a global modern movement. It is not just about nature and wildlife and the planet – it is about our day-to-day business and it's impacts on everything that we do.

The sooner we can get on board with a programme the better, as sustainability can deliver profitability and it is good for business.

The GEO platform allows clubs to easily input their data, to pull reports and share information and statistics on all the good initiatives that they are involved in, with their members and the industry.

Split into three sections: nature, resources and community the platform allows for a simple layout that is easy to navigate. The important element about the system is that it is a team effort and requires all senior management to work together by inputting the data applicable to their departments. Best practice reporting is simple.

A Special ‘Thank you’ to our main sponsors – SMITHPOWER/TORO and SYNGENTA who are fully committed to sustainable practices and the GEO iniciative, for their financial contributions and presentations given at each of the workshops. We look forward to building a sustainable industry with you.

To all the members and their Course Superintendents and other staff, for making the effort in attending the workshops and willingness to engage in this regard.

REVENUE WORKSHOPS – JUST WOW!
The group of managers and PGA members that attended the Revenue Workshop presented by Ian James at George GC in April GEO Revenue Workshop led by Iam James in JHB

A huge amount of value and information was delivered throughout the regions at the Revenue Workshops by Ian James.
If you were not there – you certainly missed out and the GM’s and PGA members that were in attendance, are a good few steps ahead of you in terms of implementing the powerful tools at their clubs to retain and gain new members.

A simple - but powerful question Ian kicked off with was ‘Can you tell me right now the value of a new member at your club?’ not many could, and after Ian provided the formula to the group to work it out for their applicable club – boy-oh-boy – when you hear the figure of R500 000 being the value calculated per member, it makes you sit up straight!

Ian's message is - "Your members are hugely important to your club and you need to engage more with them - become CEO’s - Chief Engagement Officers, and make them feel valued and that their opinion matters."

Make sure you don’t miss out on any of the upcoming education/training and events that we have planned for you in the coming months.
